I've recently been told to eat a wheat and gluten free diet. I tried the Free From range and didn't enjoy the texture or taste.
There seem quite a lot of products out there but many are pricey so if anyone can recommend any (penne, spaghetti or fusilli are my favs) that are actually nice - so could be eaten by OH who is not wheat intolerant - that would be really helpful. I've spent a lot of money on products that I didn't like. thanks!

Out of all the ones I've tried, the only one I can actually stomach (and enjoy!) is the Doves Farm pasta. Even the non-gluten intolerant in my family like it!0

most wf/gf pasta is made from rice flour, which is what gives it the vile taste (in my opinion). I've found I can stomach small portions of spelt flour pasta - Tesco did a GREAT one which they've now discontinued to my dismay. Some health food shops have it though.
I've started replacing pasta with gnocci, although you have to be careful as some contain wheat flour. Morrisons own brand are wf/gf and are quite yummy.0 -
Orgran Pasta is a nice one, you can get vegetable pasta, or rice pasta. I find that even though it isn't wheat, a large bowl will still blow my stomach up, but small amounts served with other stuff is nice. Tastey enough just to dress with a bit of olive oil at times too.

I assume it's your doctor thats told you to follow a wheat/gluten free diet, can you not get things on prescription?
Sisters coeliac and gets most of her stuff on prescription.0 -
My boss is coeliac, and has found that she can get buckwheat pasta in some Eastern European shops. Buckwheat is a relative of rhubarb, and so is absolutely OK for her. It's also delicious!0

I also have coeliac disease. I find Asda free from pasta
to be the best.0 -

I don't bother with the things on prescription because I don't like the taste (mostly made with rice flour), but it's a good point.0 -
My OH is has ceoliac disease and get's his stuff on prescription. It's Juvela and we all eat it so we don't get any cross contamination since he's massively sensitive. The main thing is to not overcook it as it disintegrates. Also maybe try the corn based pastas. We've been eating it so long that I'm not sure if we would actually like wheat pasta:o. Also try making your own gnocchi...it's yummy and easily replaces pasta in meals. make a huge batch and freeze some so you have instant meals. Be careful with spelt and buckwheat etc as you can still be sensitive to it. Oh and try polenta as well as it's corn based.Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
