Just bought a recordable DVD. Looked in Argos and the discs were £9.99 for 5 for 120 minutes recording. Is this a good price and are there any 240 minute discs for when we want to record a film?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I take it these are rewritable discs? The dreaded PC world had some on offer recently at a pretty good price and Morrisons have some on BOGOF.

Can you not change the "speed" on your dvd recorder to fit a film or is this a DVD rewriter for your pc that you are talking about?

the disks are all the same size in effect, it's the quality of the recording on them that determines 'how long' you can record on them for, the lower the quality the longer you can fit on them(or if it is a PC drive then you change the compression quality)

Thank you very much for your replies.

The discs are to be used in our new recordable DVD nothing to do with our computer. I will look in PC World and also Morrisons'. As you can guess I am not very technically minded!

Morrison's is a good place for the BOGOF deal.

You can fit up to 6 hours on a DVD - your recorder will give you various options to select how many minutes you want to pack in. 120 minutes is the best quality, obviously. And you can record programmes at different speeds/ quality on the same DVD.

jmf, Tesco also have some rewritable discs at a not bad price, make sure you get the correct one depending if your dvd recorder uses - or + but some will use both, just to confuse you some more

I bought the Morrisons ones, which come in both - or + and they are 3 for £9.99 at BOGOF so that gives you 6. Can't remember how much the PC World ones were and typical PCW they had some in a display at a cheaper price than the same ones on the shelf and when they went through the till they came up at the higher price

    Hi all

I recently went out abd purchased an external dvd re-writer from Aldi (a samsung type) and would be grateful for any advice on what type of media I need to get and also the brand name as well.

There's so many sites selling dvd discs as well as local supermarkets.

Hope someone can help me out there

    Thanks
