No way you can heat and hot water an all electric property for £85pm.
I know NOTHING about this sort of thing, hubby deals with it all but what I can tell you is that we live in a 2 bed house which is all elec, we pay approx £200 a quarter. We pay quarterly with actual meter readings.Don't Throw Food Away Challenge January 2012 - £0.17 / £10
Grocery Challenge 16th Jan - 19th Feb 2012 - £254.72/£200 (Ooops very bad start)
Grocery Challenge 20th Feb - 8th March 2012 - £0/£2000 -
Then presumably you like your house quite cold. If you have any degree of heating then your 2 winter quarters must be much higher than £200-your summer ones may be less.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for all the advice! I have started a new routine over the past week to try and lower our bills!
I took a meter reading this morning, which is exactly a week since my last reading, turns out we have used 98 units, which works out roughly 14 pounds. So switching those appliances off has made a huge difference!. Personally, I believe the bill was a culmination of everything, higher prices, no actual reading from 3912 units, wastefulness and the cold winter. I've taken the advice from one of the above posters and started a spreadsheet for tracking usage. Also we are on economy7 which im not sure is the best tariff for us, so tomorrow i'l phone EDF and ask some advice. In the long run though I think a change of accommodation to a property with gas central heating may be beneficial after reading so many comments about the running costs of electric boilers. Also, we have an immersion heater switch that we've never used, would that be more economical than having the boiler on for 4 hours/day? i've heard bad stories about them.0
