Nero CD burning failed?

I have been using my Nero software to burn my CD's and DVD's for around 3 years now and all of a sudden I am getting a write error while trying to burn a CD. I have saved the error log file but can't make head nor tail of it.

I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to have a look at the log file for me to see if they can see why it's not writing?

  • Have you changed the brand of cd's or dvd's being used?

Some brands are terrible and only good for coasters.

I am using the same disc's as before so no problems there. I tried using a verbatim CD-RW last night but got the same error message.

  • could be end of life for your cdrw - depending on brand and the amount of burning you've done 3 years is a normal lifespan.

It's a NEC ND1100 DVD+RW drive and hasn't been over used. When I try to burn a disc it gets to about 80% of the burn stage then comes up with 'write error'. When I check the disc's most of the tracks are ok, just the last few are a bit garbled.

  • Is the size of the cd you're trying to burn larger than the standard 700mb ? Just a thought

try restarting your computer, and have no other processes running. sometimes that wee blip when your computer has to 'think' screws it up!
if i had known then what i know now
  • It doesn't matter if you've been 'overusing' it or not sometimes the laser diodes die and it sounds lie yours is on the way out. Do as the others suggest and maybe try some different software and or flashing the firmware on the writer.

Have you done a defrag of your hard drive ? if not do that,as a lot of errors are because you need to defrag.
