Minthost still charging me after 2 years!

This is true. It seems that from info from this thread, it seems that their own site just seems to carry on automatically "charging" me for a service that doesn't exist any more. Because it was so long ago, I don't remember the contract. But I know this, I would never have agreed to a long term contract, if there is such a thing for web hosting. It's usually done month per month.
From what I can make out from the info I have, I owe them the sum of £3, for the initial month I cancelled. That I have no problem with.
After going back through some files and emails I finally remember what happened. I kept emailing them asking to cancel the service since I didn't use it. They never acknowledged my emails. After a while I gave up and stopped payment. Then they started to keep asking for their £3. And here we are, over 2 years later and they still fail to respond to emails.
The only option I have by the looks of it is to carry on doing what I was doing, ignore it.0 -

that happens everywhere. If you don't pay your mobile phone bill they'll cut you off but carry on charging you. They don't let you keep using their service and hoping you pay0 -

I shall leave it as it is me thinks.
just emailing a host and saying cancel my host does not work, you would have needed to go into your account with them and follow their cancellation process.
as they are using WHMCS then you should have
1) logged into your client area
2) under services/products opened up the server you have
3) scrolled down and completed the cancellation request to cancel immediately or at end of period
4) the cancellation is done automatically via the cron job and any invopices are stopped and no further are issued.
the reason of doing this is to make sure it is the account holder cancelling the server as anyone can send an email and the last think wanted is if they cancelled and removed your hosting via an email request and then you sent a ticket saying wheres my site.
so by doing it through the clientarea then it is the account holder who has given the cancell request.
it looks like all the OP has done is emailed them to cancel as he is not using the server which they have not acted on as it is not an official cancel request.0 -
I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Following your advise, I went over the site thoroughly and finally found the cancellation request. Which I now done.
This brings me to my next issue, if its not cancelled, what about the outstanding £90?This email is to confirm that we have received your cancellation request for the service listed below.
Product/Service: Entry
If you requested immediate cancellation then the service will be terminated within the next 24 hours. If however you chose end of billing cycle, it will not be cancelled until 01/03/2009.0 -

if they have their cron setup right then the cron will automatically cancel you hosting, but you are responsible for all payments until you offically cancel the hosting, so will have to pay the £900 -
Hi,
I just fell over this thread and thought I’d try to help clear things up. I realize it is a couple of months ago and the issue might have been resolved in the meantime, but better late than never.
As others already pointed out, the quick and painless method to cancel an account is to login to whmcs through the “Clients” link on our website, click “my services”, then click on the service you want to cancel. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “request cancellation” button. That’s one login and 3 clicks and this way the cancellation is automatically handled by the system and there are very little chance of anything going wrong.
Having said that, we are certainly not trying to hold onto customers who want to leave and any cancellation that we receive will be dealt with quickly and politely. Unfortunately email is a fickle media and there are many ways email can go lost, so it is not a good option.
Of course nobody will chase you up for fees for unused services.
I hope by now the issue has been resolved. If not please open a support ticket, also through the client interface, and I promise you we will sort it out in no time.
I’m sorry to hear you were unable to get your blog working. You might be interested to know our hosting accounts all include free Softaculous one-click installation of 250+ popular scripts including WordPress. It can hardly get any easier.

I believe it is now resolved. Since cancelling from the server via the website, I never got any further emails. In fact, I just checked the site and my email is not recognised. So my entire account must of been deleted. I also didn't pay the £90. Last email from them was 11/09/2011.0

Yes it is probably deleted then. If you want to make sure, I'd be happy to check out the situation and clear up any remaining issues. Just open a ticket with your email address, referring to this topic.0
