  • Keep meaning to investigate van insurance and market price but hubby hasnt got hold of his dad for the reg number so thats on hold. Need to go shopping (!! i know!!) hubby needs clothes for school on Friday, its his first day as a classroom assistant, after 6 years of working outside he hasnt got anything smart enough, granted he has his wedding suit but i think that is taking it to the extreme to turn up in a 3 piece suit :rotfl:So he needs a smart but durable pair of pants and a new shirt for 1 day a week that should do him.

I also signed up to 3 survey sites to try and earn some extra pennies, thanks savingholmes for the idea. Nothing has come through yet but im sure something will soon.

Got a letter from nursery their fees are going up £1 a day from Oct so thats an extra £3 a week, need to investigate where i can save this so it doesnt cost anything.

    Other things to

    - pay for CRB check £50 and fill in forms/checklist for hubbys enrolment next week
    - check banks
    - check freebies
    - packed lunches done
    - tea sorted from store/meal planner for tonight and tomorrow

    Have a good day everyone!!

  • I bet OH is like a big kid about going back to school. I wanted to do access so I could go to Uni but they said I had to pay to do it and it would have been nearly £1,000 and I just couldn't afford it. I was gutted though as I went to look round the college and giggled to myself how when I was at school, I couldn't wait to get out of the place and now I am trying to get back in! :o
    Just keep swimming!
  • Hubby has his first day at school today, he is helping out with the special requirements centre within the school for those kids with ADD, Autism or temporary problems such as parents split up etc. He is just a bit nervous but excited.

Itsadogslife the access courses at the local college and the traditional A levels we would have had to pay for, but this course is direct with the university (Edge Hill) and is free. They were also much more helpful than the college was and as its at night and just 1 night a week for the first 30 weeks he can still work full time around it. He will have to work weekends though as he goes to school volunteering on Fridays now.

In other news ive got my payslip and been paid a bit more than i predicted which eases things, my overdraft has reduced a lot and this time next month i should still have some money left!! Will update my sig when ive checked hubbys bank.

Ive got a new plan in place for keeping us with the food budget, i am going to take out my £180 budget and put it in a tin, whenever we need anything we can take money out but must put the change and the receipt back in. Hopefully this will make hubby focus a bit more on it, i know we kept within the budget last month but i think it was more beacuse i refused to let hubby go to the shop and realistically i cant do that every month!!!:rotfl:

Im also going to do the same with the holiday budget.Hopefully that will mean that next month i can make an overpayment on my card or maybe even pay it off!:T

Seems like im not doing much i read about every one else making loads of overpayments but we have been paying the overdraft off its just not as noticeable.

Thats about it not planning to do much today other than work, we both have packed lunches, tea is already planned just going to check the banks/freebies/update spreadsheet/Sig if any surveys come through ill do them as well.

Hope everyone has a great day.

  • Just updated my sig.

Had to re work my amount owed to take it from the same point as last month so that it was comparable so

End of last month after all the bills had gone out and we had been paid the total debt was

    £12,586.99

This month (after bills after wages) it is

    £11,971.45

So we paid off £615.54 or 4.89%

Not bad considering i didnt make any overpayments on cards etc, if we carried on paying it off at the same rate we would have a DFD of May 2013 but we should be able to start paying it off faster. Especially when we clear the overdrafts and start throwing money at the loan which is the only debt (apart form the overdrafts) incurring interest.

    As always im staying positive!!

  • Hi SC - perhaps you could try the factoryticker - its free but its a visual way of tracking your debt clearance - it gives you a pretty image you can customise and post on here. I've found little things like that can really help.

If you are anything like me your overdraft is one of your dearest debts so it is important to get that cleared.

I think the tin idea for groceries is a good one. I'm doing online shopping as much as poss as at the moment I can't trust myself in the shops!

  • Well hubby loved his first day at school which is great:T

Ive just had my final statements through from the old gas and elec supplier and they owe me £181 woohoo:jso in changing ive reduced my direct debits by £20 a month got £30 cashback and a cheque for £181.. not bad!!

Counted the penny jar and we have got £36 which is great and i have withdrawn the food money for the month and put it in a tin on the bookcase and taken out the holiday spends as well. I think it will reduce our spending by seeing the 'proper' money disappear.

Also put a load of stuff on ebay at the weekend got a few bids and a few watchers so its looking good.

Only downside was the £50 for the CRB check for uni but thats more than covered by the gas and elec money so im a happy bunny.

Got something out for tea and im working from home today so im going to do a quick check of what ive got in the freezer so i can meal plan for the week and do a small shop. Off to check the banks.

  • Sat here waiting for my sausages to cook, trying to avoid doing the work that i brought home with me that needs to be done for tomorrow morning. So ive come on here as a distraction, hubby is still working, ds is in bed as he still isnt well (doctor says its just a virus).

Ive paid all the credit cards (minimum payments)
Just about to pay the water bill
Might go and check the freezer so i can meal plan for the rest of the week
Will put some sausage rolls in the oven for my lunch and cook a couple of baguettes for hubby, need to ask him to get milk on the way home as well.

Boring day and boring night doing work - Booooooo! Oh well we are off on holiday on Monday so at least ill get a nice break from work.
