How long should it take?

Hi everyone:D!

We have been chasing Loans.co.uk for a PPI claim for over a year now. After much chasing around to find the right address etc for them and a bit of back and forth with the FOS we finally got a result with a letter from Loans.co.uk saying they would uphold our claim back in June.

With the letter was a form authorising Loans.co.uk to contact the loan company and the insurer to check about claims etc before they could send a settlement offer. We sent this back both by hard copy first class post and via e-mail. This was on the 20th of June.

As we hadn't heard anything we e-mailed Loans.co.uk on the 19th of July asking when we could expect a reply - to which they replied "that due to the high volume of complaints they could not give an expected time line for resolving" our complaint. We then sent a further e-mail 28 days later to which we recieved no reply at all.

We really have 3 questions that we hope someone will be able to help us with (we have got no reply to our e-mails to the FOS):

What is a realistic time from acceptance of blame to a settlement offer and then final settlement?

Since Loans.co.uk have accepted our claim can we approach the FOS to expedite our claim?

Has anyone else had this problem?

We are keen to get this sorted out as the man about the house is due to go to Afghanistan soon and this is one bit of stress that we would like to get rid of before he goes.

Thanks everyone!!!!!

    Hi and welcome.

    Well done on your success.

As the FOS have dealt with your case then it would be them that you would go back to to chase the business up.
Do you have the CEO details of the business?
If so then email or write/ring them.

Once accepting and signing the acceptance, as its done through the FOS, I believe they would send a copy of your acceptance to them and I cannot recall now if it takes from about 4 weeks maybe less that you should hear from the business.
If you don't then as you've been doing is contacting the FOS.

I would ring the FOS if your not getting any joy in hearing back from them by email.
You need to tell the FOS about Afgan as well.

Please keep us posted on this, because even though I said 4 weeks, that is just a guess, it may take longer because of the backlogs.

    Fingers crossed. x;)

Hi there, we have also had our claim with Loans.co.uk upheld - albeit only got their letter 23rd August (but then we only started our claim June this year so can't complain). Had exactly same - authorisation letter was enclosed for the loan info from GE Money. I actually found a telephone number today for them purely by using our creditsafe account at work - it is not listed ANYWHERE at all, not even on their own headed paper! If you want to chase them up, the number's it's 01244 576251. I spoke to them just now & they havent yet even been in touch with GE Money due to their backlog! Told me they probably will do in a week-10 days. I shall therefore be ringing them again next Monday! :D Good luck & please post on here when you get an update as it gives the rest of us hope!
Keep Smiling :D - It makes people wonder what you're up to!!!

Thanks for the info with the telephone number. Am being led a dance at the moment by GE Money who are pushing my claim to loans.co.uk so this is really helpful.

Just spoke to Loans.co.uk on the telephone number you provided and it makes a change to speak to someone nice after dealing with GE Money!
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:
  • Thanks guys will be on the phone on Monday - will keep you all posted

Hiya, no worries re the phone number - I would never have gotten hold of it myself if I didnt have access to our company's credit checking facility, so glad I could help someone else with it! How did you get on with them?
Lady I spoke to was really nice as well, although couldn't tell me what I wanted last week. But I am gonna chase them up again today :D, I am fully prepared to become a pain in their a*se if necessary! :rotfl:

  • Rang them on Monday and spoke to a really nice bloke who was quite apologetic about the delay, it's due to 'the sheer number of complaints'. Apparently there was a query about the figures from the lender so that has held things up. He reckoned we should get a settlement figure in about 3 or 4 weeks time - we shall see!

Thanks again for the phone number, I wonder if they will change it if we all keep ringing - or am I being too untrusting!!

Will let you know what happens!

Hiya - was your post above in ref to loans.co.uk? Cause when I tried them on the number I was brandishing about last week :D , it now goes through to MBNA call centre who in turn gave me another number! The new number kept me just holding for over 40mins monday, so had to hang up in the end as was at work!! If it is Loans.co.uk, be grateful if you kept me updated (don't mind you PM'ing as its often easier) Good luck either way.

  • Well unless their letter arrives tomorrow it is another deadline missed by LCUK!! (Why am I not suprised!)

Has anyone else had any joy?
