Hi guys
Ive got a big problem...
We have lived in our current property for 6 months now and are with Npower for our Electric and Gas. About a month ago we changed over from a credit meter to a prepayment meter.
The last quartely bill we had was for £93.34 which i thought was good. Since we had the meter put in on 29th november we have spent £105? I have spoke to npower about changing back to credit meter and they are saying that I have got to keep it for twelve months?
I am looking to change providers. Could you suggest to me who you think is the best priced?
Cheers guys

While your bill does seem very high, you would have expected an increase in your payments as we are now in winter, it would seem reasonable to assume your usage would have gone up since the last quarterly bill was issued. Also I think nPower charge a higher rate if you are on a pp meter, but you would have to check that with them.
The other thing to check would be if they have put a recovery rate on your meter. Presumably the meter wasn't changed on the day your quarterly bill was issued, in which case any power used between then and when the meter was changed can either be billed seperately or often is simply loaded onto the meter for you to pay back.
Use a reputable comparison site such as energyhelpline to compare prices, and if you switch through them you can earn cashback.0 -

It depends on the company, it;s best to ask them their policy. I think powergen will do it, not too sure but I think I remember Gal posting something like that a while back. BG would too, but only after running a credit check, and their rates aren't exactly the cheapest.0

Yeah there would be a credit check and also if you failed then you would have to pay a security deposit, however pay by DD and you're fine.:beer:0 -
