Uk Insurance Ltd & Outstanding Claim!!!!!!!

I have received a letter from a UK Transfer Team stating thatPolicies underwritten by CIC will transfer to UKI.
They inform me that I have an outstanding claim through Churchill which will not be effected.
I am insured by Bank of Scotland not Churchill and have claimed only once for theft from a garden shed at least 10 years ago and that was settled promptly.
My Sister has had a similar letter which states if she has a claim it will not be effected. She lives miles away and has a different surname.
I have rung the Transfer Team several times but they seem unable to solve this problem.
Has anyone else had one of these letters containing false information?

Issued by mistake.
RBS Insurance include UKI, Churchill, Direct Line and Privledge.
If you are worried about this, take it up with RBS Insurance as a complaint and ask for compensation regarding the time/effort taken to look into this. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
I've had the same letter this week from Direct Line saying it won't effect the claim against me-I've not got a claim against me & have never been with Direct Line!Rang them up-they said must be a mistake, but how did they get my correct name & address in the first place?0

I worked as an Insurance Underwriter for 20 years and I want someone to put in writing that this was an error. If a claim has been put on your Policy in error, it could effect a quote or a claim as it would look like you had not declared it!
I have sent an urgent Email to Bank of Scotland Insurance and await their reply!!!0 -
Exact words."We are writing to you as you have an outstanding claim with Churchill. If your claim has been closed, please ignore this letter."0

I received this letter today from Direct Line, and was also worried by it as I left them a year ago and have no claim outstanding.
Hope they write a follow up letter setting out their mistake to everyone, but I very much doubt it!0 -
I have insisted that this matter is rectified and that I have written proof!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Similar phrase in a letter simply addressed to "The Occupier", which is rather odd. Never heard of NIG, and almost certainly the previous occupier did not claim. Upshot: taking no notice.0

I've just had one from Direct Line saying that I have an outstanding claim. I haven't had insurance with them for 5 years or more.
UKI told me 'not to worry' because it was 'probably' just a mistake. They say they will investigate it and get in touch within 2 working days. I'm not holding my breath.
Direct Line told me that 'the system acted on its own accord' (until I pointed out that systems can only do what they're programmed to do. They have promised to send a letter confirming that there is no claim outstanding on my insurance record. I'm really not holding my breath there.
I won't be insuring with Direct Line or any of the other RBS insurers again if they can't handle a simple thing like this properly.0 -
I have received a similar letter today addressed to the occupier which says "according to our records you have an insurance policy, part of which is underwritten by The National Insurance and Guarantee Corporation Ltd." If they have records why don't they know my name? However there is nothing about claims in the letter, it is just informing me of a change of underwriter. Further in the letter Churchill is mentioned and I do have car insurance with them. I don't really understand it.0
