for those with flights in February looks like you'll have to pay extra taxes anyway http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6258213.stm

quote "Ryanair said those who do not pay the day before flying, will be turned away.................Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary said all passengers will be emailed and asked to pay.

If they fail to pay by midnight on the night before they travel, they will not be able to fly, he said."

so how do we pay the extra taxes?
I'm in the £2.00 club! terramundi cracked open Christmas Day £748 :p Started a new one Boxing Day!
  • They are supposed to be sending an email - if you do not pay the tax in advance - NOT at the airport, O'leary has said don't even bother going to the airport, you will not be flying.

I think the article relates to people who booked before 6th December as the airlines would have increased their prices to reflect the new tax after the 6th Dec.

This would make the £0.01 fare even more of a bargain IMHO
  • Quoted from the BBC article:

"From 1 February, the Air Passenger Duty is set to go up by between £5 and £40.
Most airlines raised fares as soon as the Chancellor, Gordon Brown, announced the hike on 6 December.
But some are demanding payment even for tickets booked before the announcement. Ryanair said those who do not pay before flying, will be turned away."
