Free Word Processor

I need to produce a statement and email it to a solicitor but dont have 'Microsoft Word' installed on my laptop.

Ive just searched and sen some 'free' downloads.
Has anyone tried them? Do they work the same as normal Word? and are the downloads safe.

Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Sory another problem.

Ive installed the Libreoffice but it wont open. I get a message saying 'this programme needs a Java runtime environment' to operate, please download one.

Can anyony tell me how to do this please, thank you

If you have a 32 bit version of Windows, click start, right click my computer - computer, click properties if you are unsure

Ive got the libre working now. I have the Jarte but dont use it now because when you email a file done on there no one can open it because its not compatable but thank you anyway.

You need to save the file in MS Word format. Go to File > Save As and choose "Save as Type" and select MS Word 97/2000/XP.
