help with a newbie at this?

I am looking into claiming back PPI charges that I was incorrectly sold years ago. OH has just seen that I have been paying it for years and wasn't even sure what it was. :o

I have a couple of really simple questions (I'm just confused). I have filled out the questionnaire claim back form - but the only question I can't answer is the policy number for the PPI insurance. I can't find anything from the insurer at all - wasn't even sure who this was only found the details on the original ts & cs from the credit card company. Now how do I go about finding that out? Is that what the template letter here is for? If so, who do I send that letter to the credit card company or the insurer? and the letter asks for an account number does that mean my credit card account number or the policy number?

Would really appreciate any help :money:

  • Hi Cookinmummy

I recently recieved a full payout from my bank for the misselling of PPI and I only used the template letter (with added interest) on this site. I had no clue what my PPI policy number was and the bank (when asked directly) would not give it to me so I sent off the claim without it and still won!!! Not sure about who you would send the letter too but I would guess it would be whoever "sold" you the insurance initially.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Did the payment not appear on your statement each month?

You sound like my OH. And yes I am a numpty :o

sorry the above makes me sound mildly dumber than the reality. It has always been there and I knew it was some kind of insurance to protect if I couldn't make payments, but knew none of the specifics of what it covered how or why etc, or who it was with. When I took out the card I was told I had to have it, and I've always paid it and I thought everyone paid it. (I've never had another credit card or changed it just kept the same one) Until my OH pointed out no 'everyone does not pay it'.
