Help - Getting Desperate - Need Accommodation In York For 1 Night Sat 3 Mar 5 People

Now Im starting to panic. Booked train tickets for a stay in York for mum for early mothers day pressie. There will be mum, me, my 2 sisters and niece (15) but we cant get accommodation anywhere for 1 night at what we can afford anyway. We need something central as we have no transport and are coming by train. Ideally 1 x twin room and 1 twin room plus child. Cheapest available is Novotel and Marriott at £240 pounds. Was hoping to pay max £35 each. Have tried several through Octopus but they are either 2 night min stay or 'on request' which means waiting 2 days for a yes or no. Also tried emailing about 8 guest houses now who will only do 2 night min. Didnt realise this would be so difficult. I need your help out there.... thanks.

we paid a bit more than that but booked the quality hotel through hotel pronto. It was actually a 2nd choice as the holiday inn had double booked us but it was fantastic, really central, lovely rooms, lovely breakfast, and without being cheeky if you book a twin room it consists of a double and a single, which could quite easily sleep 3 whilst only being charged for 2, if someone was prepared to miss breakfast! Didn't do that myself, but my skint student sister has!0

Hi,
Try the Golden Slipper, its situation on Goodram Gate right near to the Minster. We have stayed there twice now. The landlady is nice but doesnt book out the rooms upstairs all the time so you would have to phone and check first, the number will be on Google or pm me, I have it on my phone.
There are 2 rooms, both double and both have a single bed too, 5 of us have stayed there before, I think its £40 per room per night which is really good value. The rooms are clean and spacious but the decor is a bit dated. They have tv's and tea/coffee making facilites. £40 doesnt include breakfast which they can do for you if you pay extra, you can have what you want too.
The Inn is supposed to be haunted which is why we have stayed there, but nothing has happened to us unfortunatly.
have you tried hotels.com ?Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Mizz Pink. have phoned pub and they have given me the mobile number of lady who arranges accommodation (Donna I think it was). No reply from her mobile so have text her. Fingers Crossed. Have tried Marriott - no vacancies either. Have tried all the usual Hotels.net, Laterooms, Octopus and the major chain hotels direct. Hope we get this one - especially as its so central.0

We think Donna might be the chef lady, not sure though, she is really nice if its her.
You cant beat the Golden Slipper for location, its right in the middle of York and the Italian restaurant opposite is really lovely and it gets busy so you'll know which one. York is brilliant, its our fave place. I hope you can book the Golden Slipper, its an old Inn so has lots of character.
We have also stayed in the Golden Fleece thats more £ though at up to £90 a night.
You may want to ask Donna ? if she know of anywhere else similar she can recommend.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

It does say 2 nights minimum, but as they have a lot of availability, give them a ring, as there is 5 of you they may well do you 1 night.0 -
