Do you have a Union at your place of work, Lucky?
That's not the question to ask: the question is, are you a member of a union? And if not, join NOW! Doesn't matter if anyone else is or not, doesn't matter if the workplace has a recognised union or not, anyone in any workplace can find and join the union of their choice, and in this kind of situation it's money well spent!
They may be able to provide better assistance and a legal stance on what clearly seems to be a case of workplace bullying, which is really not on. If you do, please have a chat with them, they will be impartial and not an easily swayed part of this chummy network.
More to the point, IF as the OP fears there are attempts to sabotage her work, she will have the right to be accompanied at any disciplinary hearing by a colleague or a recognised TU official - not someone from CAB, not a solicitor paid for by her household insurance or otherwise.

I had an 'interesting' situation earlier this year at work, which generally I'm very happy about. It made me feel so much better to be able to write "I may need to take advice from my union" in a letter explaining that I was not happy with their proposals!

She's been there for 4 years and is chummy with the management, and yet still got passed over.

She has been there roghly 3/4 months but worked fora different company and was tuped over and has 4 years total but she knew alot of our collegues from her previous role.

We dont have a union but I will look into joing one.

Also most of this is witnessed by people from her department who she is friends with. The people in my department are on training from other companies and don't actually work there. I work in an office seperate from the main building where all the managers and she works.

I never even suggested that someone from the CAB would or would not be able to accompany the OP at disciplinary meetings, I stated that what they would be able to do is provide her with free impartial information on where she stands legally, since she's obviously not sure herself?...

Fair enough, but I think it's worth making the point, because the OP is concerned that there may be attempts to 'get rid'. There are certain processes which have to be followed, and if the OP joins a union now she'll be in a lot better position than if she delays until there is an actual problem.

Also, although a union generally won't get involved in a disciplinary process until you've been a member a few months, I'm pretty sure they'd give information about rights in the workplace.

  • I would suggest feeling pity for the bully. At the end of the day bullies are insecure, and chances are she is projecting her feelings of inadequacy, after all she has spent 4 years in the industry, but would still need to be supervised? Where as you are fully qualified, and able to work independently. So you have the upper hand in this matter. There is nothing to say that if she was successful in getting rid of you that she would get the job anyway, so take some satisfaction in knowing you have what she wants, and her childishness will not get her what she wants.
  • I've ran into a similar sort of situation in my job. At the start I tried to fight but got no where. Its so frustrating when they are in with the boss as you are really talking to a brick wall and in my case nothing I could say mattered. In then end the only option I had was just to accept this was the way it was and there was nothing I could do. Sure I still hate it but I try not to dwell on it and ignore the person(s)

I try my hardest but I get angry with myself for letting myself be treated this way I get so angry I shake. I have always dealt with these situations in the past and if I told anyone who knows me they wouldnt believe I would be in such a situation. I need this job and enjoy it, I have just got back £5K from a ppi claim and was considering handing in my notice and looking for another job.
