  • They are no cheaper than any train operating company, and the train operating companies don't have extra fees for ticket collection / credit card use / etc., and can actually help you if there are problems with your ticket.

The Rail/Sale fares aren't reliant on advance purchase and can be bought at your local railway station at the same price.

    So it's a reputable company??
  • If you want to avoid the fees of Raileasy then buy from Arriva Trains Wales or just go to your local station and ask for a Economy Return or Single (Sailrail ticket) to Belfast.

Station code for belfast on the Arriva Trains website is Xbelfast Ni

  • I can't find the £44 fare on Arriva Trains Wales website, but https://www.nationalrail.co.uk lists it.

If traveling on an Irish Ferries service you will pay have to bus fare from Dublin Port to Dublin Connelly station, it was €2.50 (change issued) when was there in June, and the only Euros are excepted onboard the ferry. If not still suggest you take some euros.

For British citizens any government issued photo ID is sufficient for the border controls.

Of course the above doesn't apply for the slower route via Scotland.

From MSE's Cheap Train Tickets article...
    TheTrainline

Ubiquitous ticket shop TheTrainline powers both its own site and many other commercial booking sites. The site has a simple operating system, but charges booking fees.
Booking costs: £1, plus £3.50 if you pay by credit card

    Raileasy
Like TheTrainline, Raileasy is a commercial booking site, which charges booking fees. Its layout means it sometimes highlights cheap tickets that are hard to spot on other sites, eg, when a first class single works out cheaper than a standard class single.
Booking costs: £1 on tickets over £10, £2 for sub-£10 tickets, plus 50p debit card fee or 2.5% for credit cards.
Book through a Train Operating Company's website and avoid those fees.
Or indeed, buy at a railway station.
In your particular case there is no financial advantage to buy online.
