I'm curious if you have ntog on your rader, and if so what is your stance on the company0 -

TEF is not listed here but you all know who O2 are. Shows as 9.5%
BNC or Santander will be something off the scale like 12%
Above average yields can be for a variety of reasons, some of which make the share an opportunity, but in others, it should server as a warning.
BAE are out of favour and there is fear that defence cuts will harm them. I think these fears are overdone and I hold BAE with an average buy of 258p. My spreadsheet shows a forecast yield of 6.9% even at today's price.
VOD have a few question marks regards overseas activity, including tax issues, and other legal haggling. Their special dividend as a result of the Verizon divi is also likely to be a one-off. I hold at 166p.
TEF are not on my radar for high yield. A *very* quick look suggests low divi cover and plunging EPS, but I will look again.
As for banks, they have high yields for the same reason that Greece does. I hold some Lloyds ords at about 42p and also some Lloyds and Nat West prefs. I don't intend to add to this holding.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
The problem for us, is one of the best way of selling/buying shares is "scaling". Ideally if we had larger funds it wouldnt matter we could sell them in increments as to not try and guess the tops or bottoms. Obviously, this technique is mainly for people who beleive in the underlying company anyway and arent looking for a sharp exit!0

Bobby,
I shall take a look at san leon, Ive made a bit of money on cad before. I only usually trade oil tiddlers with a market cap of 20m or less.
Going back to ntog have you spoken to the ceo, I had some issues sent him an email, he got back to me asking for a number and phoned me. I dont know many companies that would do that.0 -
It was clear to me that it was a disparity that USA was lagging in wireless 10 years or so, I did not know how best to invest in though. Probably Apple was the biggest gainer I guess
So VOD reaping fair rewards though USA is an uncertainity to me, I wonder if VOD could see lower eventually. I thought they were a buy at 100 to 130 and its typical of a good share to keep sailing up like it has. Buying strength often better idea then 'value' like I did with TEFPRESS RELEASE: Verizon Wireless and Trilliant Deliver Next-Generation Public Network Smart Metering
Trilliant's CellReader® Compatible with the Verizon Wireless Network
BASKING RIDGE, N.J. and REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless and Trilliant, a global Smart Grid communications leader in delivering solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations and renewable resource integration, today announced that Trilliant's next-generation CellReader, the leading cellular wireless Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Utility metering, has been certified as compatible with the Verizon Wireless network. CellReader products operating on the Verizon Wireless network complement Trilliant's SecureMesh smart grid networks and UnitySuite(TM) head-end software that are deployed with utilities worldwide.
Utilities are under pressure to implement a variety of real-time-pricing and demand management programs in order to reduce electricity consumption and technical losses, while providing the customer with greater visibility and control over their electric bills. The CellReader "under-the-glass" communications module combined with the reliability of the Verizon Wireless network gives utilities an easy-to-deploy two-way AMI solution that allows scheduled and on-demand access to all meter data. CellReader modules can easily be retrofitted into existing meters, or fully integrated CellReader-equipped meters can be ordered direct from the meter manufacturer.
Trilliant's CellReader employs the ANSI C12.22 open standard for data access and communications to the C12.19 data tables within the meter via IP packet data connectivity provided by the Verizon Wireless network. CellReader's use of open standards enables utilities to select metering tools and meter data collection applications that make the most sense for their budget and objectives. CellReader is also certified to ANSI C12.20-2002 for meter accuracy and performance.
"Trilliant's certification underscores our commitment to developing the Smart Grid for the utility market," said Mike Brander, vice president, Utility and Industrial Vertical Markets, Verizon Wireless. "Our Machine to Machine (M2M) rate plans and management tools, combined with Trilliant's CellReader, will enable our joint utility customers to effectively manage large-scale Advanced Metering Infrastructure deployments for the commercial and industrial markets."
"We look forward to working alongside Verizon Wireless to support Smart Grid initiatives," said Andy White, chairman and chief executive officer of Trilliant. "Trilliant has successfully delivered tens of thousands of CellReader products on the Verizon Wireless network since 2003. Our advanced CellReader technology combined with Verizon Wireless' excellent coverage and reliable network continues to make for a model relationship."
