Basically I split up from my husband a few weeks ago taking my household earnings from £45k a year to £13000 a year.
I am now classed as a single parent and hoping to receive tax credits etc but am in the middle of sorting that out.
I would like to do to something with my life and have been looking at the OU to be able to get back into studying.
It says on the calculator I will be entitled to the full award to cover my studying but that's worked out on what I get now, it asks for the annual household income (before tax) for the last complete tax year, which was obviously higher.
Does this mean I won't be entitled to receive any help until I have been on my own for a year?
Thanks

OU funding is changing from September 2012, with fees rising but loans being introduced to cover them. This could solve your problem if there isn't any other way round it.
