i have router connected to my P.C but when ive been on the comp for a short time i start getting "web page not available" notifaction as if the internet connection has gone down. i talked to my ISP and they checked the connection which is fine. so i unlpugged the router and the connection works ok. i reconnected the router and it worked ok for abit and then once again i got the web page unavailable so ive unplugged it totally. My ISP suggests theres something wrong with the router. the router does give out a signal but when using wifi on my phone it wasnt working much at all.

is the router box on its last legs. although when i went in a comp shop the guy said virgin (who im with) have a history of blowing routers. he suggests buying a new router and seeing if it works.

anyone advise as to what the issue is

Usually your problem is caused either by line probs (which your ISP says is okay) or something internally. The latter could be the router, but you may wish to check the following if you have spares.

    1. If you have a BT master socket (NT5E), there is a test socket behind the front panel, try plugging your router directly into that (with a filter of course - this effectively disonnects all internal phone wiring within the home).
    2. Change the microfilter
    3. Change the ethernet cable/phone cable
    4. Update the firmware on the router, and or reset to manufacturer's settings (remember to make a note of your user name and password, etc)
    5. If still no good, can you borrow a router for a while to check it out?
