I got my mind set on one laptop from HP, though a shop i just checked said that range had problems with the power pack overheating, causing problems..?
anyone know from experience if this is true, or were they just trying to boost the later versions.. (at v scary prices!)

i've had three of them, the first one i got overheated (it's the nvidia graphics that causes the issue) sent it back and got a replacement under warranty, the replacement lasted slightly longer unfortunately - just out of warranty! hp wanted 800 to repair it, and it was only 750 brand new...

I have 3 HP laptops -- one of which is a Pavillion and no issues at all (had it for 2 yrs ). ditto the other 2 models .BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? :shocked: OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

do they have nvidia graphics? mine probably older than 2 years right enough
edit: op, have a google for hp nvidia defect - was a massive problem and there are lists of the models that had faulty chips (so massive the shareholders of nvidia sued their own company!)This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
