just wondering how often they visit after the first few weeks and 6 week check?
LO is 4 months old, had HV on phone this morning to arrange visit re development checks, can't find anything in red book for checks at this age?

Ours only visits once when they are a couple of weeks old. Think it depends on your area. If we want them we have to call them up or see them at clinic.0

I don't think there is any set plan, but they often come for a visit when baby is close to weaning age, to offer any assistence.0

i thought ours was the same, ring up if you need anything but must have changed....0

If you are lucky.. never!!!!!
There should be a contact number for them in your red book.. or the GP surgery will give you it. They expect you will go to the baby clinics to have them weighed if you want to.. it is not compulsory!!
So long as baby is doing well, growing, thriving etc you dont need to have them weighed every 15 minutes!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I hated going to get my daughter weighed i did it about once a month just because she seemed tiny, but she is just little and followed the 9th centile lovely! born a week over due and was still only a dot at 6lb 5oz.
Everytime i went they always asked any problems???
i was like nope none they always seemed really disappointed but she was a really content happy baby which i was really lucky about, i hope my next one is the same.
I dont remember a HV visiting at that stage either0 -
I'm so fed up seeing them! Think it depends where you stay, where i stay (far north scotland in the country) the health visitor comes once a month to my house to weigh my son, she will be coming for his final visit in October which will be his one year check0

In my area (Wiltshire) they very rarely visit unless you ask them to. After the 6 weeks, they come again at approx 8 months. At 2 years my son had a birthday card reminding me of the services they offer and a little checklist of things he should be able to do. It's then up to you to contact them and ask for help.0

i never see mine unless i go to the clinic or call them to ask them to visit.
in my area they will keep an eye on you if they are worried you are not coping or you need help learning how to parent but otherwise they dont bother you.0 -
I'm still waiting for my son's 6 month check up, not holding my breath though, he's 21 now!14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
