Home Insurance Renewal

Hi,
I am posting on behalf of my father who has just received his insurance renewal letter from lloyds tsb for £400 previously £300 the year before (£200K 3 bed semi hp2 area). It is so expensive and i'm looking into getting cheaper for him. The only problem is that he has had to claim for damage to his house caused by the Buncefield explosion. Initially he claimed for damage (buildings insurance) that was immediately visible after the incident however he had to make another claim for damage which was only spotted after a couple of months (buildings). A claim also had to be made for new carpets under the contents insurance.
I have tried the comparison websites but they only seem to quote for people with a number of years no claims bonus. What's the best way of getting a cheaper quote? Which insurers would be best to speak to in this situation. How about going to a broker in town? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
