URGENT help advice requird - transfer to BT from previous provider problems!

Hello,

I recently decided to go back to BT and signed up for their Unlimited Calls & Line Saver Rental package. We were previously with a small company who offered cheaper line rentals and I was told that this transfer would be initiated by BT so we wouldn't need to do anything.

This seems to be correct process and BT came back with a confirmation letter stating date of application and date of transfer. My account on BT also correctly shows my call charges etc.

However, I have just received a bill from the company I was withi before, asking for payment.

i have spoken to both companies and they are blaming each other and I am now believing BT. We have the same number, nobody has come to our house and physically placed a new line. They have checked the property has only one functioning line and it is a BT line not a non BT line.

Is there any way to determine who is telling the truth?

thanks

Who answers when you dial 150?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Oh I never knew you could do that! I dialled it and it went through to BT services. However, does BT not rent out their lines to other providers? Or you can still have a BT line with another provider?

Oh my god I am confused...
