Paying holiday with credit card

Hi
I booked a thomson holiday for November and paid the initial deposit of 246.00 with my credit card, now the outstanding amount is now due I was going to pay with my debit card but wondered would I be protected should anything go wrong such as company goes out of business for example (I know this may be extreme) or does the full amount of the holiday have to be paid with credit card??
thanks
