Comodo firewall issues

Hi all
Bit of an odd issue, this one.
A friend of mine has the free Comodo firewall installed on her XP machine and it runs fine.
However, when the firewall installs any updates it creates problems using the internet (can't get on, can't click on links properly, etc.)
I've run a MalWareBytes full scan after updating and it found nothing. Avast also found nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas on the problem/solution or can someone recommend another good free firewall?
Just to put this into some sort of context, my OH has an XP machine with the Comodo firewall and that works fine even after updates.
My Windows 7 machine also works fine after updates.

Maybe it would be worth re-installing the firewall.
Not exactly related, but I know I had some problems when I installed the Comodo Firewall as it would automatically create rules and failed leak tests until I deleted all rules, put it in "custom" mode and disabled Defense+.0 -
As it's a Freebie, use a good uninstaller (eg Revo Uninstaller) to remove it and download it again and see what happens. I had this happen once before with Zone Alarm!0

I'll try that over the weekend.
I've also heard that the PCTools free firewall is quite good. Anyone any comments on that one?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Thanks Closed. I did wonder about that but wasn't sure if it was robust enough.
Just one question with that, if I uninstall Comodo, will the Windows firewall come back on automatically or will it need switching on?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

not sure, it should, but check. If a router is being used, that gives permanent protection against port scans, windows firewall is a second layer. 3rd party firewalls slow machines down and cause problems occasionally, not worth it imo, virus scanners do most of the protection work!!

There is a router in place and I've removed the Comodo firewall. Everything seems to be running faster and smoother now.
Thanks for the info.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

A colleague just recently asked me to look at his xp laptop, saying he couldn't open any websites. Removing comodo, and a couple of other crappy progs fixed the issue and made it all run faster too.0
