Exploding tin of dog food

Our Morrisons store has a charity bin just behind the tills where customers can donate dog food to the local greyhound rescue place.
Once whilst we were in the queue waiting to put our shopping through there was an almighty bang and the store ceiling and several of the bagging areas were splattered with smelly dog meat. A can had literally exploded in the charity bin. Staff were going crazy trying to clean it all up.
Amazingly the charity bin is still in exactly the same place to this day.

oh nasty stuff, my dog never ate dog food, he was 19 when he died

I think more than being startled they're referring to the fact they were covered in rotten meat, which smelt so bad they were physically sick, maybe not quite traumatic but I can certainly see how that would be distressing!
