I have just purchased a necklace for my wife to be a present for her wedding day, i was told at the time of purchase if it wasnt the correct size i could change it and it should be here in time for our special day althou it could take afew weeks to arrive.
After thinking long and hard decided to give her the necklace early as a present and to make sure it fitted her, unfortunaly the necklace was to small so i phone the shop and they said they would get me a bigger size as they did not have it in stock they would order one.
I have just received a phone call from said shop who said it is going to be 6 - 8 weeks to order which would not be here in time for our special day, when i asked for a refund they said they do not give refunds only credit notes  where do i stand regarding refund as it states on the receipt they only offer credit notes??
I have had a look and according to my statutory rights if the item is not fit for purpose i am entitles to a refund.

But it is fit for purpose. On someone else with a smaller neck, it can be a necklace. It isn't broken, can be taken on or off and so it is fit for purpose.
Just because it doesn't fit your fiance doesn't mean it isn't fit for purpose0 -
What purpose do you not think it is not fit for? It's a necklace and does exactly what it says on the tin. The fact you ordered the wrong size does not make it unfit.
Were you told it WOULD be there in time for your special day or SHOULD be there in time for your special day? This makes a big difference.
If the latter then I doubt there is anything you can do to get your money back.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

They'll just deny it or state they told op an estimated time for receiving the item.
