Thats why things have changed, it used to be a rubbish system where all that mattered was getting as many people as possible through training courses to get funding much better now as most of the payments are based on the outcomes. (jobs for the long term)

And yes, I am proud of the programmes I am involved in and the companies I deal with. :D
lucky you. From what I have seen and heard a lot of these latest batch of providers just want to get you into placements etc so they get paid. They do not get paid if you dont find work and also if you find it of your own volition/actions they get paid which is totally unwarranted. I have been on some programmes before with previous training companies who are well trained and have given a lot of help and advice to those who need it while having the grace to lay off the backs of those who are already making herculean efforts to find work. The latest one I have been sent on seems to object to the voluntary work I am doing which I get a great sense of wellbeing out of - probably because it would interfere with these unpaid slavery work trials.:(

My current provider has given me a young girl covered in tattoos who spent the entire time of my last appointment either attempting to fix an ailing printer or showing me the paid interview she was featured in in a reality magazine...I will leave you to make up your own minds about the service they are providing..

Donna id be happy to help you with your webiste issues if theres any way I can. No fee charged LOl

Reddevil ours has 4 desks in a tiny office . top class service huh.. ZERO chance of discretion or privacy when discussing personal circumstances etc

i have been lead to believe its the providers own website and i may need some sort of password provided by them. i think if it was similar to registering with agencies websites they would have told me so and suggested i do it myself.
    edit.
anyway i think i need to be seen to be doing it while i am there.

if you were on fnd after the work programme started then they had a rule to transfer you straight onto it. you found something else? what? they got rid of everything else around here years ago. things like job club, programme centres, work training schemes were you gained qualifications etc all disappeared.

I said i was interested in self employment and they are running a scheme in October, well its not them but an outside company coming in and using one of the rooms in the jobcentre. Federation of small business i think.

They said i can go on that. I expect to end up on Work programme again though. Just stalling for a bit:)

Have you been told about the New Enterprise Allowance? You must be 18+, on JSA over 6 months. You can get, brief summary, up to £2k plus mentoring.

Actually, the New Enterprise Allowance seems pretty restrictive:
New Enterprise Allowance - what it is

If you have a good idea for a business you want to set up, you could get:
    • practical help and support to prepare you for self-employment
    • help and support in setting up your business
    • support for at least the first six months of trading
    • a weekly allowance paid for the first 26 weeks of business, to help you during start up when your earnings may rise and fall
    • a loan of up to £1,000
The allowance and the loan are not taken into account when working out:
    • Housing Benefit
    • Council Tax Benefit
    • tax credits
    • Income Tax

New Enterprise Allowance - who can take part?

You might be able to take part in the New Enterprise Allowance if:
    • you've been getting Jobseeker’s Allowance for at least six months
    • you are assessed to have a good business idea
    • New Enterprise Allowance is available in your area
The New Enterprise Allowance will not be available to you if you are required to take part in the Work Programme.

    The above is from Direct.gov.uk.

So if on the WP, you CANNOT take ask to be placed on the NEA. You MAY get £1k only, not 2 AND it's in the form of a loan, not a grant. Also, I think you recive 65 JSA for 13 weeks and just £33 for the next 13!
  • Sounds about right, the advisor shoul identify whether you need the WP or NEA. IF you are looking to start your own business (post #56) then job searching type training & work experience will be of no use and so should be signposted down the NEA route. Yes, you get JSA for 13 weeks then 50% for 13, not bad if you are starting your own business & not actually Job Seeking in my opinion, better than previous schemes like this.

i think help with starting a business is built into the work programme here.
