How to make a temp folder on your HDD

Hi I am trying to install a brother 4 in 1 printer but have to get the upto date downloads for windows 7 32 bit from internet. The instructions are:

  1. Disconnect your Brother machine from your computer if you already connected an interface cable.
  2. Make a temporary folder on your HDD [hard disk drive] as the location to save the downloaded self-extracting file, e.g. C:\brodnt
  3. Download the file to the temporary folder.
  4. Once the download is complete, open the folder and double click on the downloaded file to extract it. Then open the folder that is created.
  5. You will find multiple folders: "xxxx" (where xxxx = your model name) and "Data" in the folder created in Step 4.
  6. Open the "xxxx" (where xxxx = your model name) folder and double click "Setup.exe".
  7. Select your language with reference to the language list and click "OK".
    Notes:
If the error message "An error occurred during the installation. ... ." appears, please make sure that you double click the "Setup.exe" in the correct folder in Step 6.
  8. The installation will start. Please follow the installation screen directions.
I don't know how to do the HDD bit, any help would be appreciated thanks

Gosh, Brother are really behind the times in thinking that everyone still runs XP!

PS: you could have downloaded the file to your Desktop, if you wanted, then deleted it all later...

if it's a self extracting file it'd probably have extracted everything to the same place; so instead of just deleting a temporary folder, you'd need to delete 100 files off your desktop

One lot of effort saved, perhaps a different lot incurred! You win some, you lose some... (Other such cliches available upon request!) :D

This is not done via the browser. A new file can be made without even having a browser installed.

    Who said otherwise? Relevance?

    Confused.
