Hi, I'm thinking of setting up CCTV around my house. Does anyone have any experience/views on this system? (Complete novice here)

Speaking to one person, they said they wouldn't use Maplin cameras as they aren't good enough quality, but this system has sony cameras. Thanks

i fited a 2 camera kit into my home http://www.maplin.co.uk/500gb-4-ch-h.264-network-dvr-with-2-x-ccd-cameras--advanced-mobile-access-517239
and added a extra camera ,
got one camera on front and side and wide angle camera on the back garden
the DVR is ok ,it holds about 2 weeks of recordings on the hdd ,if running all the time,
it took al day to route the cable in the house and about 30 mins to fix all camera and DVR and about 10 mins to conect it to the net so you could see them on your phone and it's easier to use the web browser on pc than a monitor conected to it (DVR is hide away in my home),
its been running about six weeks now and the only tthing it do's is record 24/7 with out stopping ,
the cameras will not read number plates but they do go black and white at night and they have a red glow at night which can put poeple off come near your home which is what you want ,
now the Data Protection Act, mine field , brst do some reseach on it first ,http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/cctv_code_of_practice_html/3_covers.htmlthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0
