Hi
My 16 year old started sixth form this week and my child tax credit wasn't paid last week. I had told them months ago that he would be continuing in full time education and rang them to say the payment hadn't gone in. They told me it would be readjusted and I have received this weeks payment today, but not the one that was owed from last week. Do I need to call again or will it be paid automatically at some point?
Thanks

Quite a few of us in the same boat, got nothing last week, and then maybe a small about yesterday and normal ish today...
I don't get free calls to 0845 anymore so waiting to see what others have said, i did call ctc last week to be told it will all be sorted, but seeing as they don't know how things work, and just read from scripts, i can't see what help they will be.0 -

My CTC was due monday but was in my account yesterday, same circumstances child turning 16. I'm paid weekly. So it wasn't too long a delay.0 -

The payment that you are "missing" from last week wont actually be paid back to you in a lump sum . You should have found that your weekly payments have increased ever so slightly to make up the money that you were down last week.
This happened to me last year and I had borrowed the "missing" payments to cover bills etc . I was quite shocked to discover that instead of receiving it as a lumpsum I had my payments increase for the rest of the year by just a few pounds per week. :mad:The loopy one has gone :j0 -
Same thing happened to me. My weekly online shop was cancelled, as I didn't have enough money in my bank. I had to borrow some money to cover it.
Told I would get t back this week, but the cheeky so and so's are payng it back to me at £1.11 a week!
They are doing t to everyone who has a 16 year old0 -
GRRR...mine was about £1 more this week - didn't realise that was there way of paying it back - that's gonna take almost a year!0

Hi all
Just want to add that I have discovered this same problem this morning. Wondered why I was so skint this last week only to discover when todays payment was not there that last weeks was not either.. (have to add I am in middle of moving and totally [Removed by FT] with everything I didnt notice last week!!)
I rang them and got it sorted, but what astonishes me is that we are not asked at the time of renewal earlier this year if our child is continuing in education or not. Its down to us to tell them.
I never even took much notice of my award dates because when they ask you if any circumstances have changed, my answer was NO.. because they have not, my child is staying on at school !!
I asked why we are not prompted by a question when renewing as I am sure alot of people will have been caught out like me.. my first time with a child turning 16 and not fully understanding the rules and regs regarding that..
So, I feel a flaw in the system - why not ask if its flagged up you have a child who has turned or about to turn 16.. are they staying on in FT education?0
