I have done another DFW thing today - just called Specsavers to see if I can save any money on my contact lenses & booked an appointment for a "refit".

Has anyone ever "downgraded" their contact lenses? I pay £13 a month currently for what the lady called "elite" lenses, & their basic ones start from just £5 a month - obviously an £8 per month saving would be brilliant but her concern that I may find them uncomfortable is offputting...I wear my lenses everyday, & usually for quite a long time & usually don't find them to be an issue & wouldn't really like that to change, but £96 a year is a considerable saving.

  • Hi there,
Hope you don't mind me joining in, not been on one of these threads before so it's all a bit new.

I didn't know you could get 'smart price' contact lenses! I get mine from Get Lenses but will look into the cheaper ones, although I need toric ones in my right eye as I have astigmatism, so that adds to the cost.

I don't work on Fridays so I did the school run this morning, and will do it again this afternoon, without taking my bag/purse. DS always asks for something from the bun shop or a magazine, so not taking my purse is the best excuse for saying no. While he's been at school I've done tons of housework - cleaned kitchen and bathroom, washed floors, dusted, hoovered and ironed. I've just taken photos of some bits to list on ebay but I think they'll make me pence rather than pounds. I'm also going to check out Greenmetropolis which someone up thread has mentioned, because I've got loads of books to get rid of.
  • Also got a Ice cream for myself and a collegue and a veg Wrap for Free.

    Afternoon all!
I'm officially shattered! Forgot how much standing up you do as a teacher! Knees and feet are b*ggered!

    Anyway, here's today's little list...
    • Ate yesterday's packed lunch today - not overly appretising but edible
    • Walked dog in the park
    • Had a LSD
    • Looked for broad beans or peas online for a school science practical - need them in pods and the greengrocers says she won't have anymore in - Mr T and Mr S have them in so will have to pick them up tomorrow (the things I do for GCSE grades!)
    • Something from the freezer for tea (maybe pizza, naughty!)
    • Write a list of things to do over the weekend - have lots I could do but we'll see how much ooomph I have!
    • Fiddle with meal plan and shopping list for next week
    • Stay in and watch telly tonight with feet up!
