Warning Tesco Groceries Online - Avoid Like the Plague

I have had a complete nightmare with Tesco's Groceries online.
I ordered a food shop from them which had a guide price of £80 but when it arrived the driver had no documentation with him.
I asked him how much it came to but he couldn't tell me but I foolishly signed for it thinking I could ring the customer service line and they would be able to tell me how much it was, and that it would be close to the £80 mark.
I tried ringing customer services immediately but after selecting home shopping on the automated line kept getting an engaged tone so emailed them.
24 hours later I received a phonecall from them telling me that they couldn't confirm how much it was but would get the store to post documents out but their guide price for my order was showing £100.
I don't understand how after a transaction has been made they are unable to confirm how much it cost. I wouldn't have been happy if the order had been £100 and would have returned items as I think a 25% increase is unacceptable, but as the driver didn't have the documents I didn't have the opportunity to do so.
The money hasn't left my bank account yet so I can't check how much it was that way.
I am so unhappy about this. All the customer services guy could say was "yes I agree it's not acceptable" but that doesn't help me now if I'm down £20.
I would seriously recommend anyone avoid shopping from Tesco's online. At least in a store you know at the till how much you're being charged rather than a guide price which may be nowhere near the actual total.

they take the money off your card the day before so you should have known how much it came tooReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. ive been using tesco.com for a long time and never had this problem and money is usually taken 2 days after delivery...i have relied on this on the rare time ive needed shopping but have been short on money
hope they sort it for youHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0 -
If Tesco substitute products they don't charge the difference in price, so if anything surely the price would be lower than the guide price if items was out of stock?0

I have checked my bank account this evening and it still hasn't come out. The guy on the phone confirmed that it can take a few days to leave the account.
For groceries they can't charge your card till they've actually done the shop cos they don't know exactly what items that have to be weighed will come to.0 -
I think they charge your card before your shopping is loaded for delivery.
A couple of months ago I put an order through, then missed a phonecall a while before delivery was due as the card was declined.
It can take a few days to come up on your CC statement.
Sounds like there has been a glitch with yours though.0 -

No, they don't.
They don't even pick it until the day of delivery and can't take the money until it's picked.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Have you phoned your bank and asked them how much the pending transaction is? They should be able to tell you the amount, but not necessarily who it's for, but you should be able to guess which transaction is your Tesco one.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
its shows on my online bank the morning of delivery, we have a balance and an available balance and the difference is normally what my shopping is, and we have never had a problem like this either0

I've been using tesco.com for ages now and never had a driver arrive without the printout with a list of items and the price, you know the one I mean?
But they always take the money from my account the day of delivery, I'm assuming just after it's been picked but before the driver arrives with it.carpe diem
