Can I set up a Standing Order to be paid out of my Santander eSaver account?

Thanks

It is very unlikely a savings account will allow external Standing Orders or Direct Debits to be set up. That's the job of a current account.0

Hey,
You can't setup a Standing Order from your eSaver, only a Santander current account would allow you to do that.
Santander don't have branch specific accounts so you can use any of their addresses, just use the one nearest you and use the branch locator on their website0 -

You definitely can't set up standing orders from Santander's esaver.0 -
While the Santander esaver account isn't classed by them as an eligible product for setting up a DD or SO payment, their account management web portal does have a user-friendly and useful bill payment interface.
It's really not a big effort to setup a whole series of pre-dated payments into designated external accounts and have those act as pseudo SO or DD payments.
Any bill payment details are stored so retrieval for adding more bill/account payments to those you've already sheduled is very quick and easy. Likewise amending those you already made is also as effortless as anything of that nature can be.
It took me maybe 2-3 mins to set up a years worth of monthly withdrawals in to my non-santander current account.
Santander have a horrendous customer relations record but I've got to say setting up the esaver and dealing with the telephone staff when I hit a problem (which was dealt with and remedied quickly) has been about as friendly and efficient as I could have ever hoped for.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
But do these go by BACS rather than Faster Payments?
Good question, without digging through the details I assumed they're BACS transfers but could well be faster payments. On their scheduled transactions web portal page there is an option at the bottom to view "faster payments" already made.
As I've only recently setup my esaver account I haven't actually got any bill payment history to look at so can't say for sure either way.
When I was setting up the payments I did assume they would be BACS transfers so allowed for a few days on the dates I arranged the transfers to take place.
I'll have my answer on the 20th of this month when the first payment is processed'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
Can confirm (for what its worth) that Bill Payments from a Santander esaver account are transfered by BACS. No surprise there, FP would have been a welcome bonus but no such luck - yet.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0
