Glad you got it sorted. Have a great trip!
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

  • How dare you tell a stranger that he "should take the risk"?

Travel without valid insurance could mean that the person would be ill without access to medical treatment; that their flight home might go without them if they were unable to travel; and so there would be a need to pay doctor's bills, pay for a hotel until they had recovered, and buy a new air ticket. Are you willing to meet these costs for the person taking your advice?

I was merely saying that in life we all have to make choices.... I did ask where was the OP travelling to as the EHIC has varying levels of cover which is detailed in full on the gov website (it links thro) I would take detailed info with me if I was in that situation and know where the EHIC covered hospital was based. I would also make my travelling decision on knowing I was happy to rely on this as the best option. Dont forget that many expats for instance rely on this all the time in places like Spain and I M sure there are many with back problems!

Really glad you have obtained cover OP as this is the best solution all round - Have a great time on holiday

With a back problem it would be very unusal not to be in a position to travel home in a relatively short period, and an air ambulance would not be the requirement....
