14 day cooling off period

I took out my car insurance on 27th July, and it was due to start on the 7th August and although I was happy with the terms and conditions given to me by the insurance company, I wasn't happy with the terms given by the finance company they use to supply the finance and who take the payment each month so I cancelled the policy.
I have been told that I will be charged a hefty cancellation fee because I cancelled outwith the 14 day cooling off period, but I didn't receive the paperwork in from the finance company until after the policy came into force, and after the 14 day cooling off period.
Am I wasting my time fighting the £75 cancellation charge on this basis?

You can be charged a cancellation fee within the cooling off period too... check what it would have been, if it is £75 either way there's little point arguing.0

if it is in the T&C of their published terms then why should you fight it as you agreed to it when taking it out?
If its not in the T&C then you should fight it.
Is the £75 the fee or is it the total of the fee plus time on cover (I suspect the latter)?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). There's no cancellation fee for being within the 14 day period hence why I'd want to fight it!Feb 2024:

You suspect wrongly, it is a £75 cancellation fee (they are reducing the 6 days cover I had on top of this)
The T & C state it's 14 days from paying for the policy OR from the date of receipt. But how do you prove receipt?
I wouldn't be asking if the T & Cs were clear...Feb 2024:
