RBS goodwill gesture

After about 5 months RBS just sent me an offer of £1,700 this morning.
I'm completely broke and this would pay a few bills. Do I bite their hand off and accept, or do I turn it down and wait another few months for a few extra quid !
Do I...Don't I..?

  • Hi there
They seem to be sending out the same letter to all upheld complaints - not admitting anything etc but the letter details all the amounts and interest to put you back into a position if you had not taken the PPI and is in line with FSA guidelines. So you have a win even if they are wording it as though they are doing you a huge favour.
A word of advice - send the acceptance letter back special delivery. It costs more but you know its there.
    Cheers C.

Does this sound like the correct refund of ppi, if you want to post up some figures of the loan, when it was taken, monthly payments, ppi monthly payments etc etc, some of our in-house experts should be able to help you out, although if the letter says that they will reward you with all ppi payment made + interest charged + 8% simple interest, then you should be okay, and as Forres says, it can be beneficial to send it back Special Delivery then you have proof that they receive it.
Thanks to all the competition posters.
