Sudden Overdraft Removal?

Comments

  • @barrychoc: what was the issue you had and how did you resolve it?
  • Just checked my account and the overdraft seems to be back on for some reason. I called them up to confirm that it was going to stay because I've not been contacted regarding this new decision but they said it could take up to a week to check what has happened.

I think I might do the biggest food shop I've ever done after all this just in case!

Thanks to all that have advice and help, I really do appreciate it.

Are you receiving mail, such as bank statements from them? Because as you know they should have contacted you if they were going to remove it.

Based on my own experience I believe that the student account needs to be in credit possibly every 3 months, and you can then spend your overdraft to the max as long as you put it back in credit after 3 months or so. Mine was like that, but then maxed out for 3 months as I was waiting for a fixed term deposit to mature, and then I got a letter saying they would cancel it in 2 weeks. I didn't try to appeal as I don't really need it, but I hope your overdraft stays put for now!
