20% off the day after I bought it

Can I get the 20% off the day after I bought an item of clothing?

We bought bridesmaid dresses from BHS only to find out the next day they marked them up as 20% off. We are still waiting on one of them to come in.

Can I just return the item and buy it again or is there anything legally that I can do?

There's nothing legally you can do, other than hope they show some good customer service and will allow you refund and rebuy, or even give you the difference.

their argument would be that they have no legal obligation to give you the difference and you were clearly happy to pay the full price, so why should they?

BHS have a 28 day return policy -- but you would need to check if these items are included or not.

Cheers for the prompt response. Thought as much, but may ask BHS as if you don't ask, you don't get. I'll let you know the outcome if I do ask.

If the refund policy was made known at the time of purchase, then it would be part of the contractual conditions.

Never did update this so here goes.
Got the refunded price after a few phone calls. This was mainly due to the fact that my Fiancee was going to go home and buy the dresses online the next day and as the staff did not inform her of the upcoming sale, but instead told her it would be easier to do via them it was deemed to be not good for customer relations.
