mbna PPI

Hi
I have written to mbna regarding PPI on a credit card but they have just written back and said that as the box was ticked they will not refund me and that is the end of the matter and they will not discuss it with me again and if I want to take this further i have to go to the FOS.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and if it is worth while going to the FOS.

The thing is I didn't need the PPI for the following reasons;
1. I would get full pay in work if I was off sick
2. I was led to believe that I wouldn't get the card if I didn't take the PPI.
3. The salesperson was pushy that I take it.
4. I was not told that I could get PPI independently from another source.
5. I don't feel that the PPI was explained properly to me.

Garteful for any advice.
Thanks

Did you write to them or use the FOS form that's available on here?

    Link to the form: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/redir/b26c6b8f

I used the form and quoted the full reasons why I felt it had been missold, it took just over 8 weeks for them to respond and they upheld the claim.

It might be worth filling in the form and sending them a copy with another letter asking them to reconsider.

Failing that you would probably have to refer it to the FOS.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • No I just wrote them a letter. Hmmm maybe I should send them the form but they were very adamant that they were closing the matter.

Dave - Had you ticked the box to say you wanted the PPI?
  • Hi

Sorry to hear you've had the dreaded "tick the box" decline

I had that too, but I sent them an email raising a number of points and after getting no response, I emailed them again and copied in the CEO and they've opened another complaint to address the points I raised so maybe there is hope!

I would suggest emailing them, after all what's the worst they can say? "No" - then you go to the FOS as they suggest
