argghh, whenever i type something in google i get message saying theres script running? an error has occured and cannot run first child script, do you want to continue running scripts on this page! very odd, if anyone can help please!! I'm using windows xp, ive done a malaware scan which found nothing.

What browser are you using?
Try clearing the browser cache if you know how.
e.g. for Firefox, press the Tools tab (or press ALT+T), then Options > Privacy > Clear your recent history. From there, make sure the 'cache' is selected and select 'Everything' in the Time Range To Clear.0 -

Did you try PCombo's method? Or Wannie's suggestion of CCleaner, http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim
There could be other reasons, but normally clearing the cache helps so would be the first step.
In the meantime, you could try Firefox portable as a temporary measure if you have some serious googling to get through
