How do I claim back from Royal Mail

hi, I am an ebay seller. I dont sell very much, maybe 10 items most a month,
One of my buyers contacted me to say that the item they recieved was damaged.
I issued an immediate refund for the product as well as the full postage price.
They were kind enough to send me photos of the damaged product.
How do I get a refund from royal mail for the cost of the product and the postage? what proof do I need?

for starters you had better get your buyer to return the item and packaging

What is the item? If it is fragile like glass or china it will not be covered by RM so I'm afraid there is no point in going to any more trouble of expense. Write it off and package more defensively next time!
