Help Needed

Wondering can some one help me, mine is a long case regarding HFC and due to them stating they destroyed all my records after PPI complaint issued and sar requested this has been complicated. They have sent me a letter admitting that there Customer service person gave me all account numbers with PPI and info over the phone so they know what accounts had PPI and they have now sent another letter with dates details destroyed stating after SAR requested. This case has been with FOS for 15 months and adjuicator since April.
Today l received a call from Manager of HFC PPI liason team who asked me to go over the whole complaint. When l told her everything she said she apoligised as l had lodged a complaint and requested a SAR they should not have destroyed my records even though after six years. She said they where in a akward position as they would not be able to find out exactly how much PPI l had paid, but if my adjuicator who she would contact would uphold my complaint what would l be happy to accept l said firstly apology and then an reasonable offer.
Does this sound positive? and does anyone have a idea my loan was £10000 borrowed in 2002 and paid off after 18 months £10653 this was front loaded PPI so l guess some rebate would have come off the settlement figure.
I called my adjuicator who l must say is not very forthcoming and she said before speaking to them she would have to get advice.
Any help or advice gratefully received.

Generally speaking, PPI premiums were usually between 20% and 25% of the cash loan on average. So on a £10k loan I'd be looking at £2.5k of premiums as a starting point, plus associated interest and simple interest less any rebate you received.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............
