MBNA Super Balance Transfer - Bank of America = MBNA?

Hi
Just looking through the guide on Super Balance Transfers. Considering applying for MBNA credit card to do this to take out a big chunk of my bank loans. The guide says that if you have an MBNA card already then you won't get another.
I have a Bank of America Amazon card. From looking around the Bank of America site, it appears that they are owned by MBNA. Does this preclude me from getting one?
Is the MBNA card to apply for particularly tough? And any ideas on how much of a limit they will usually allow?
My credit rating is probably ok, not missed a payment on anything for years, but do have 5 credit card accounts (3 opened about a year ago and just been accepted for the 22 month interest free Barclaycard platinum, which I'm hoping to shift all the others on to, then close some of them) as well as 2 loan accounts.
Sorry, several questions. Sure some have been covered elsewhere but struggling to find specific answers and wonder if anyone else has done something similar?
Thanks

MBNA are known to be fairly generous with credit limits, but...
Is there a balance on the Amazon card?
What's your...
Income?
Total available credit?
Total used credit, ie debt?0 -
Thanks for answering.
Balance on Amazon card : 2300 (out of 4500)
Income 50000
Available credit: 12000 (2x2000, 1x4500, 1x3500 - plus whatever limit they give me on the Barclaycard)
Debt: 7500 (credit cards) 10000 (bank loans)
Student loan about 15k (but don't think this really matters?)
I guess I should probably close some of my credit cards first, now that I've written it down and can see it in front of me...0 -
Hi Kingdoner,
You can have as many MBNA cards as you like (depending on your credit score of course).
They will definitely look at your active account to see if your a profitable/loyal customer as well as your credit file, however they may choose to reduce your limit on your active account to give you a credit line on your new account if your application is successful.
They also have the ability to amalgamate credit limits together into one credit line from other MBNA/BoA cards you may have.
The thing that catches most people out with MBNA, is that you cannot balance transfer between accounts (EG Amazon to Virgin), so bear this in mind if your applying to BT between these cards as you will not able to take advantage of 0% BT's etc.0
