Thermostatic radiator valves

In that case, the room stat isn't working. Probably it was taken out of service when the TRVs were put in. Just ignore it and set the TRVs to whatever temperature suits you.somewhereweknow wrote: »When the house thermostat is on zero the radiators still come on (if switched on)0 -
Thanks for all your advice
. The house thermostat is in our open plan lounge/dining room, with stairs leading out of it so the area can take time to heat up. will leave all the radiators on 3 to start with and see how we get on, and will just experiment with the house thermostat to see if that has a bearing. 0 -
Because if all the rads are set to 3 which is about 18C and the thermostat is at 25 then the rads will shut down leaving the boiler only heating the circuit pipe and any rads without TRVs.
The heating sytem in the house I bought had TRV's on all expect the bathroom radiators, but no room thermostat at all - so the boiler would heat the circulating water until it reached its internal water temp limit.
I'm hoping my gas bills will go down quite a bit after fitting a room thermostat, will be interesting to see if the difference is noticeable. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -
Yes, but surely that area is always above zero degrees, which is the thermostat setting you said would still cut the heating in??somewhereweknow wrote: »Thanks for all your advice
