Beware at ATM machine

Yesterday I was at ATM - to withdraw £100.
A woman was behind me - really close and distracted me so much I left without picking up my cash.
I'm gutted!

Well hang on...it would only be theft if someone else (possibly the lady behind the OP, maybe someone else) actually took the money.
It may well be that the cash machine sucked the money back in - they are programmed to do this if the cash doesn't get taken in a set time.
OP - report it to the bank, they should be able to check the balance of the ATM and credit you back if the money was sucked back in. If not, and you think someone else took it then do go to the police - and also to the bank who may be able to provide CCTV coverage.0 -
Yes - report it to the bank, when the ATM owner fills the machine they will notice the over balance. May take 6 weeks or so to sort out if the ATM owner is not the same as your bank. (eg Nationwide ATM, HSBC bank account)0

It is also possible that she was waiting for her turn to withdraw money.0

Similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago - the machine just sucked the money back in before I had a chance to grab it (500Euro!). I then put my card in again to try to withdraw 'another' 500Euro, and it refused as I was over my daily limit.
I went to the bank a few days later and informed them of this - it took about 4 weeks, but they confirmed that the cash was indeed in the machine and they re-credited my account.
I hope you get the same result. It's not personal, It's strictly business.0 -

I had the same problem using a debit card in a Spanish ATM a while ago. I accidently dropped something on the ground, bent down to pick it up then stood up to take the cash just as the machine sucked it back in. Got the transaction refunded by my bank though.0
