Major paypal problem Help!

Hi ive sold a some products on ebay and have money in paypal at the moment. However I have been restricted. They require a certificate of postage such as a tracking number which is no problem as I have all the iteams.

But they also require receipts faxed to them as proof of purchase. Thats were the problem lies. I dont have receipts for all the iteams as some were christmas presents. Another iteam which I sold on the 19th of december, I sent the receipt with the product to the buyer (i THINK) so I cant get that back.

What do I do???

First part as you acknowledge is straight forward.

The second part??? Now that is worrying. Tell them items were gifts etc but try and find out why they want that information. Has a buyer claimed its been stolen or something?

Buyer cant have claimed its stolen because most of them have paid up through paypal. Theres around £600 sitting in my paypal account which I want to transfer to my bank account..

Why do you think that the buyer's can't claim the goods are stolen if they have paid through paypal?
  • Are you sure the email's from paypal and not a spoof? Did you check through your paypal account through e-bay and not a link from them?

Why do they require these? You are not a shop and therefore don't have receipts! just say that they were given to you as a christmas present. I don't understand why they are asking for the receipts?

if you have only used ebay/paypal in the past for a few low value items, and suddenly you sell or receive a quantity of high(er) value items, the system will flag up an unusual behaviour pattern, and they will put a restriction on the account until you verify your ID...

yes, good point what peter said where did you see this email? It may be a spoof. Never ever log onto to paypal or ebay accounts through emails sent to your inbox. only directly go into the website and log on. if you have gone through emails and can't get on your account contact paypal immediately, if you can get on change all your passwrods (if you have gone through emails)

I think asking for receipts is to try and catch scammers who sell goods that dont exist...
  • I agree, this all sounds rather dodgy. I've never had Paypal ask me to provide tracking references in the many years I've been using it, and I've sold some pretty expensive stuff on there.

this could happen if you have done dodgy things with your paypal account.
Something similar happened to me a while back, i moved house and also had more than one ebay account using this paypal account. They wanted tracking number and reciept of purchase and who the supplier was etc.
They also wanted proof of identity original posted to them ( of both my new and old addresses). At this point i told them to f*** *** as i wasnt sending sensitive documments to them (they requested passport). Luckly i could refund my last buyers money as i hadnt sent the item (it actually allowed this!!) and i was lucky that i do regular withdrawals and did not loose any money.
But i rarely use paypal now as they seem to be a law to them selves.
