Hi ,I am new to this so please bear with me ! Has anyone had problems with free loft insulation ? I used a company and they have just covered my storage boards . I was told by a girl on the phone that the boards need not be lifted as the fitters could work around them.I have tried to resolve things with the company but got nowhere. Any advice on where I go next for help? I do not want money back obviously as I haven't paid but I want to be able to store up there again. I have been cluttered up with my loft contents downstairs since June.

Not quite sure why you were given free loft insulation? nothing normally is for free. I was offered Loft Insulation recently as part of a grant from the governement however there was still a fee on my part. I was told that the boards would have to be lifted to enable the insulation to take place laying on top of the boards does not make much sense to me. I would go back to them and insist they come and install correctly to enable you to use your loft again! Good Luck0

My mum got a grant which was totally free. Two lads came and all they did was bung piles of insulation all over the loft to about two feet deep. It looks a total shambles and we're unable to store anything up there. When I queried this I was told this is the norm. It's lovely and warm now but we can't store anything.0

When my FIL died and we moved the MIL out I banned her from storing anything in the loft since I didn't want to have to move the same old junk again when she pops her clogs.
How about a clear out?
If the company are being paid via grant type scheme talk to the administrators of the scheme and see what they say. I can't imagine they will be impressed if these companies are taking short cuts.0 -
I used to work for a company that offered free insulation to those entitled to it under the government scheme. We always informed the customer that the loft needed to be emptied, and any boards taken up.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
