kwik fit
hello female here asking about brake costs, just had mot on my old lexus gs300, since then, have had a nightmare with brakes, like, the next day! so I had a new caliper £156, an off market part apparently, not lexus, they said the other one now needs doing..another £156, because the pipe is leaking a bit of fluid, the pedal feels OK tho?? and back pads...er £200 maybe? I feel a bit ripped off, so have booked in with kwik fit, judging by some posts on this site, apparently not a good idea?? Is there someone out there who can give an HONEST opinion, do you think I am being done, just because its a lexus..M reg, doesnt mean I have a bottomless purse eh? thanks for any help

They are generally very poor and you should find if you take the car to a smaller outfit who you can trust (maybe reccomendations from friends/family etc) you should save some money.
R.e your calipers - £156 isn't actually that bad, parts for Japanese cars are a fair bit of cash. What worries me more is that you are being told you need a new caliper as the hose is split/leaking? If this is the case then that's nonsense as the hose can be replaced on its on at a far lower cost.
If however the thread has gone at the caliper side and so no new hose can be put back on, or the piston seal has gone (will lose fluid, how much depends on how bad it is) then that's probably more justification.
£200 is stupid money for rear pads, even with the labour you should be looking at say £40-500 -
kwick fit are not all poor they have 400 outfits+ so some have a bad name see where friends have been too you may find urs is ok google kwick fit where u are and see if there are any bad reports.
