My father in law recently contracted bowel cancer, had the op etc and was due to return to work to be told by his boss that he was being made redundant. He said it is because there isn't enough work but we know it is because my father in law cannot work in the capacity he used to.
So anyway, he is accepting the redundancy but has now had a bit of a change of misfortune. There have been complications from the op and he is quite useless at the minute and cannot actually think about going back to work.
The DWP have said that he needs to sign on for JSA but his doc is signing him off. Can he claim for Incapacity Benefit as there is no way he can look for work at the moment and it may be like this for some time

The company must pay him SSP till the day he leaves at the end of his redundancy.
Then he would go onto benefits, whether JSA or ESA depends on his health, capacity for work.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I meant to say the company must pay him at least SSP
Is there a sick pay policy at work, they must pay him this if he is till he leaves.
Hope he's going to be okay
Just to clarify, Incapacity Benefit is ESA nowmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
