Branches?

I'm considering my options for a new bank account
How important is to have a local branch?
I thought all banking was done online these days?
Thanks,
B

I manage without a branch with First Direct (Although can pay in at HSBC if I need to), I post cheques into them with there freepost envelope when I get them, and I pay cash into my co-operative bank account at the post office.
I think the lack of branches with First Direct is made up for the excellent 24/7 365 telephone customer service.0 -
I don't personally put any need on a physical branch.
I can pay in cash at my local post office which is fine for the very few occassions that I may need to do this.
I can post cheques to a freepost address.
I can phone up 24/7 or go online if I need to deal with something.
Post offices, cash machines and cashback allow me to get cash out.
Bills are either paid by direct debit or online using the bill payment option.
Even my mortgage was completely arranged over the phone. I never physically went to see anyone.
I've been quite happy with all this. I'm with the Co-op.
I certainly haven't needed a physical branch to do anything.
I've also not chosen to use one either.
It's up to you. Many people prefer face-to-face. What do you prefer?0
